About AskRobots

AskRobots is a small, independent web search engine, run by Daniel Quellhorst, doing business as AskRobots.com, in Houston, Texas.

How it works

• Our own crawler, AskRobotsBot, reads public web pages and follows each site's robots.txt (how it works).
• Results come from our own index. We care more about the right page in the first few results than about the size of the index.
• Each result shows what the site is about and who links to it, so you can judge it before you click (how results work).
• Some features, such as topic cards and related searches, are written by open-weight language models running on our own hardware.

AskRobots is built on open data and open-source software: Wikidata, the Open Directory (DMOZ), Tranco, PostgreSQL, Python and many more. The credits page lists them with their licences.
