Make AskRobots your default search
Search from your browser's address bar with AskRobots. It takes a minute, and you can switch back any time.
Works anywhere a browser asks for a search address:
https://search.askrobots.com/search?q=%s&source=opensearch
Firefox
- On this site, click the ⋯ menu in the address bar (or right-click the address bar) and choose Add “AskRobots”.
- Open Settings → Search and set Default Search Engine to AskRobots.
Firefox on Android: Settings → Search → Default search engine → Add search engine, then use the address above.
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi
- Do one search on this site (that's how the browser notices AskRobots).
- Open Settings → Search engine → Manage search engines (Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Address bar and search).
- Find AskRobots under site search (or click Add and paste the address above), then choose ⋮ → Make default.
Chrome on Android: after a search here, AskRobots appears in Settings → Search engine under “Recently visited”.
Safari (Mac, iPhone, iPad)
Safari only lets you choose from a fixed list (Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia); Apple doesn't allow other search engines as the default. Options:
- Install a Safari extension that sends address-bar searches to a search address of your choice, and give it the address above.
- Or bookmark search.askrobots.com on your home screen or in your favorites.
- Or use Firefox or Chrome on that device.
What changes
Searches from your address bar go to AskRobots, with our suggestions as you type. We don't track you: there's no account, and searches are only counted anonymously (see how results work). Address-bar searches carry source=opensearch so we can count, without knowing who, how many people use us as their default.
